说到尴尬，相信每个人都遇到过。最常见的就是，遇到半生不熟的人，客气一句留下来吃饭吧，对方二话不说就留下了！这种尴尬一次就懂，但是还有一种不是你尴尬了一次就能避免的 ——英式尴尬。
英国人向来委婉，男士绅士，女士含蓄。
这一点也体现在他们与人交流时的表达方面，英国人有些日常用语表达的意思非常微妙，有的连其他以英文为母语的人士都无法完全理解，若是英文水平和对他们文化的了解还不够，一时没听明白，很容易造成尴尬。
